1 Angelina Jolie's right leg is followed by 10,000 on Twitter

Angelina Jolie was presenting the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay when she stood with one hand on her hip and a bent right knee thrust out through the slit of her Versace gown, replicating a similar pose she had struck earlier on the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie's right leg

The striking stance was immediately copied by The Descendants screenplay writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, as they took to the stage to receive the award from Jolie. At the same time, Jolie became a popular topic on Twitter as users rushed to comment on her appearance.

Soon after, the Twitter account Angies Right Leg was set up, tweeting "Look at me!". Later it added "Still here. Great view, but thank god for the slit in this dress" and "You have to admit I'm one hell of a leg". The account currently has over 10,000 followers.

A similar account, JLosNipple, had earlier been set up after Jennifer Lopez's reported wardrobe malfunction as she walked the red carpet in a revealing sequined dress. JLosNipple later tweeted AngiesRightLeg - currently the only account that the latter is following - saying: "You're lucky you're TV friendly....and have Brad Pitt. Sigh, life of a boob."

Some sources had been reporting that The Descendants writers' pose was an attempt to mock Jolie, but Nat Faxon denied this was the case: "I had just seen her pose and thought it was bold and fun. And you know what? We have exactly the same legs! Really, it was a loving tribute and nothing but."
